Ascending and Descending Licks

I suggest practicing each exercise very slowly and use economy and sweep picking when it is possible. When you learn a lick, try to put it in your solos and play it in a backing track with a good sustaining tone. You will need  the sustain for the lots of hammer-ons and pull-offs. Many guitarists use this lick, from Randy Rhoads, Van halen and Gary Moore to Gus G and Malmsteen.

The first one is in E minor. They need to have develop your Legato technique.
This is in A minor. You can use this one over any chord in the key of A minor. Use alternative picking in this one.
One more in E minor. This one is from Gus G at "I am the anger".

This one is Gary Moore in the song "out in the fields", and played in tempo 180.
